Yalobusha General Hospital originally opened its doors on January 2, 1962 with a construction cost of $500,000. Initially offering 30 acute beds, surgery, a delivery room and emergency services.
The first expansion for the facility was in 1969, which opened up 40 beds for use a nursing home. In November 2000, our new nursing home expansion was opened with 72 nursing home beds. In 2005, the original 40 nursing home beds were renovated and reopened as "Spears Wing".
Today the Yalobusha General campus includes a 26 bed acute care, 13 swing bed unit, 122 bed nursing home, three rural health clinics which house outpatient ancillary services for the facility, a medical arts building housing chiropractic services and our Senior Life Solutions program, and an off campus clinics located in Coffeeville, MS and Oakland, MS.
In the past decade Yalobusha General has seen tremendous growth and expansion, most recently with the completion of a newly renovated therapy department, newly renovated patient rooms and a fresh new hospital entrance in 2012. In the spring of 2014, we completed a complete renovation of our Hospital West Wing including a new Pharmacy, New Nurses' Station and several new clinical support areas.
There are many future plans for Yalobusha General Hospital, all of which will better help us serve the needs of our neighbors, accomplishing our motto and goal "Neighbors Caring for Neighbors".
